PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) Phase 3

PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana (Skill Certification Scheme) 3rd Phase will focus on enabling a large number of Indian youth to take up industry relevant skill training to help them secure better livelihood. Individuals with prior learning experience or skills will also be assessed and certified under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). The key components of PMKVY 3.0 would be short term training, RPL, special projects, Kaushal and Rozgar Mela, placement assistance, continuous monitoring, standardized branding and communication.

Previous version of PMKVY Scheme (PMKVY 2.0) was a grant-based model. Under that scheme, the training and assessment cost was directly reimbursed to training providers and assessment bodies in accordance with common norms. As per the official data, more than 69 lakh candidates had been trained across the country under the PMKVY till November 11, 2019.

Skill Development Minister said that govt. will cross 90% of target under the ongoing PMKVY Scheme by training and skilling the youths. Moreover, the govt. will also come up with PMKVY Phase 3 which would be bigger and cover larger aspects. The PMKVY 3rd Phase training centers list, courses list and job roles will be released after its official launch after March 2020. Read PMKVY 2.0 Job Roles List till the launch of 3rd phase.

However, govt. will help public sector and private sector companies to organize and promote apprenticeship programme. Till date, there are only 4 lakh apprentices in India out of which 2 lakh are in central public sector enterprises. This number is quite low in comparison to countries like Japan where number is 1 crore and China with 2 crore apprentices. CPSEs have also been asked to triple the number of apprentice to 6 lakhs.
